Week 12 (Sem 2)

Farhan Superfly

Open Studio.

Introduction

27-31 March

Open studio week where we show our work in progress and get feedbacks from users who we do not know and even from our own peers. A good way to know where you stand in your project and if your deliverables are understood by newcomers.

This week would be the week of our open studio. However, I must admit that I have not done that much things during the break as I admit I was busy doing freelancing work as well as part time delivery to pay some school bills and some other stuff.

However, I manage to cover it up on the second day of open studio where I have gotten a lot of feedback from people as well as many interactions with other students and cohort.

I learnt my lesson to really start things beforehand and manage my time really well. However having to juggle fulltime work as well as fulltime school is not a good reason why I shouldnt have done my things earlier. Although my outcome wasnt really polished and refine I felt happy to be able to produce something during Open Studio and letting people see my work and also get feedbacks which is very important to me.

Feedbacks gotten by the end of Open Studio

⇀ Instead of doing just line generative art, why not do images that blend in with the songs or beats Makes the whole experience more immersive.

⇀ Way better to project it on a projector instead of just a computer screen. Dont be afraid of your outcome. Be proud of it.

⇀ Will be really amazing if you actually try to work together with someone from the music school who are doing music.

⇀ Something really cool that I wouldnt thought a design communication could do! A step forward for our industry.

⇀ I really love the image recognition eventhough its very simple but its definitely something that gets audience taking pictures of.

⇀ Some button indication werent clear until you explain it but coolest project still!.

⇀ Love the fact that you were daring enough to do a workshop for students. Seems like a pretty cool lecturer if you were to be one!.

⇀ Making videos that reacts to the audio would make it more interesting.

Class Open Studio

Open Studio of my classmates and their wonderful works

Student Works ↘

Below would be the beautiful works that my classmate did for their open studio. Each and everyone of them has their weaknesses and their strength and they will soon find out about it on base off the user feedbacks.

Matin ↘

Matin works and presentation was really nice especially the works he had on the screen. It really does attract people to take photos on his booth and with that you can really attract crowds and explain your works to them clearly.

Ariel ↘

Ariel project forest like work was really fun to play around with and the amazing thing is that it works really well. Happy for her that she got to make it work and that the amount of people who came to play with it was also a lot and that some people also dm my instagram to ask how she did it which was really amazing and good on her. She really progress well from the last of her work.

Ellie ↘

Ellie work was by far the most interactive one as I saw a lot of people playing around with it. I do had a chance to play with it. However there are things to consider in her work such as will people be able to maintain the dizziness, or like who is her initial target audience as her work revolves around games and it would be much suited for gamers rather than people who wants to make their product digital.

Aditi ↘

Aditi work amazes me with how wonderfull her coding skills where. It would honestly take me a while to reach to her level but I was impress on how fun I was able to interact with the plants which gives feedback to my touch. Her works could go even further if she was able to work together with NEA and make things more interesting than it already is.

Aimee ↘

Aimee definitely had a lot of works and research done due to the fact that her open studio has amazing works of research. I also love how she did up her different variation of publications which could be improve with the printing paper as well as her binding. As I notice some images were cut into half due to the type of binding she took and that her images were too beautiful not to be seen by people.

Seo Yeon ↘

I love the fact that she put into consideration little india and the signs around the place. Being someone foreign and doing things she is not familiar with really have my respect and that she was brave enough to do things out of her comfort zone. Although her work did not fully function during the open studio. I did manage to see what she did on the first week of semester 2 and it was amazing. Looking forward to her final product as well.

More stuff going on

I have given much constructive feedback to my peers when I had a one on one conversation with them and I feel that sometimes my feedback might be benificial to them and sometimes it might not but at least there was something instead of nothing. My peers have also given me feedback that I will definitely put into consideration to make my product better for the use of everyone.

Tools like machine learning, python, ableton live and also arduino.
